Bill Young

Featured Rider no. 3 is Bill Young pictured here, looking a bit glum, with his Chas Roberts in the garden at Haultwick on a recent ride. Bill trained as an instrument maker and worked at Standard Telephone and Communications before switching to lecturing in Mechanical Engineering at Havering College, which he did until early retirement came along. He loves helping people with punctures, which is nice, and also bossing the group about generally. Bill's mystery ride and lunch is an annual institution and this year he organised the Fun Rides as well. On top of that he's even been known to take charge of the teapot at High Easter cafe when Lesley is really busy! He has a son and a daughter and three grandchildren.
