Stuart Collins is organising a Tour of East Anglia, Friday 30th June to Monday 3rd July approx 200miles.

For those who are not driving or cycling to Bury St Edmunds the train journey from Letchworth takes in the region of 90 minutes, at a cost of £25 return, approximately.

Friday 30th June travel to Bury St Edmunds for an overnight stay in The Dragonfly Hotel prior to the first days cycling. Cost per person, approximately £45 for B&B in a twin room. There may be the opportunity to park at or in the region of the Dragonfly hotel for the duration. To be confirmed.

Day 1: Saturday 1st July - Ride from Bury St Edmunds to Great Yarmouth via Lowestoft approximately 68 miles. Overnight in The Sea Princess hotel Great Yarmouth, cost per person, approximately £42 for B&B in a twin room.

Day 2: Sunday 2nd July - Ride from Great Yarmouth to Swaffham, approximately 63 miles. Overnight in The George Hotel Swaffham, cost per person, approximately £40 for B&B in a twin room.

Day 3: Monday 3rd July - Ride back to Bury St Edmunds via Ely, approximately 69 miles. Travel back to Letchworth by train or car.  

Anticipating the Cycling day to be from 10:00Hrs until approximately 18:00Hrs including and dependent on stops. We have support in the form of a car and driver to carry our luggage. The cost of the B&B above includes a small supplement to cover the cost of the support team.

Please note that all costs are approximate. Stuart is looking for a maximum of twelve cyclists and has six possibles at present. Six places confirmed.

Surrey-Sussex Section - Sussex Weald 100/100 rides

On Tuesday, 15th August 2017, we have our annual Sussex Weald 100K event. This year as last we also offer an additional ride, The Sussex Weald 100M, to run in parallel with the 100K ride. Another Ugley Ride, Thursday 17th August 2017 approx 62 Miles

Start & Finish: Ugley Village Hall on B1383 approx 4miles north of Bishops Stortford. Grid Ref TL 515 274

Start Time: Anytime between 10:00 & 11:00Hrs The hall will be open at 09:30Hrs & will close at 11:30Hrs It will re-open for the finish at 14:00Hrs & close when the event finishes at 17:30Hrs

Free entry to members and none members. Please note no entries after 14th August will be accepted & none on the day. Entry Form which can be emailed, email details on form.

Route: Going north west over the Cambridgeshire Mountains (Great Chishill) then through the flatter countryside around Barrington & Little Shelford to return via Barley & Hare Street. Full route description supplied on the day. Maps LR167 & 154 short distance on 166.

Refreshments: Tea & biscuits available at the start. Drinks & cakes at the finish.

Awards:  A certificate will be awarded to all finishers.

Please Note:  Other than pubs there are few opportunities to purchase food or drink on the route. The two refreshment places on route will be noted on the route description.

ARCHIVE Founders Day Ride.
Forty Plus CC, commemorated Founders' Day, with an inaugural riding event. This was been made possible following a resounding positive response to the idea put forward in a motion at the 2012 AGM. The Surrey and Sussex section planned a 62Km ride, to be repeated annually on or around 5th April. This years event 4th April 2017

An entry form is not required for this event but do contact the Section Secretary, Valerie Taylor, if possible by email, before 1st April.
Non members of the club are welcome to join in but do contact Valerie Taylor, in advance.
