Our Rides
On a typical Tuesday, we have five different rides allowing members to choose a ride to suit their ability and inclination. Rides start variously at St Albans, Hatfield, Harpenden and Welwyn / Potters Heath with occasional car-assist rides to explore further afield. Tuesday rides normally start with coffee, followed by a ride to lunch (less than 10 to over 20 miles depending on the group), and then a ride back home – typically we leave the lunch spot in groups according to home destination. Please take a look at About Our Rides for information on typical ride distance and pace.
In addition to the scheduled Tuesday rides, many of our members get together to ride on other days. The Extra Mile is an experimental ride group that goes out on a Friday, weather and volunteers permitting (see ride list below). There are also ad-hoc informal rides organised at short notice via social media – speak to your ride organiser if you would like to be added to one of these groups.
Some of our keener riders routinely post to Strava and although we are a social cycling club, competition around the leader board has at times been stiff with even the odd whiff of underhand tactics being used to catch the competition napping on a Sunday evening.
We also enjoy cycling abroad and in 2019 there were two different trips to Majorca and one to France.
