This morning, a beautiful summers morning, we haven’t had many of those this year, Kevin and I arrived at the fountain in The Broadway for our 10:30 start. We cycled over to Arlesey Train Station where we were met by Nige and Steve. We continued via Jordans Mill, Broom, Southill, Old Warden, Northill, arriving at our destination at about twelve, where Geoff P was already waiting. The café has moved from the mansion building to another building in the park next to an overgrown Orchard, hence the name of the café. A sandwiches and cake menu was on offer. Excellent ingredients but let down by the pappy bread. Refreshed, we set off back via Hatch and Vinegar Hill, Geoff left us at the G & M Growers roundabout and the rest of us continued to Broom, Southill and the usual route from there. Not being used to the heat this ride was a little uncomfortable, for me anyway, good job it was a shorter and perhaps easier than our usual Tuesday rides. 37 miles at an average of just over 13mph. – Stuart Collins.
