The weather had improved from the last few days (cold and icy), and the morning was much warmer but breezy, and against us most of the way out. Four of us left Letchworth, myself , Alan, Kris and Kevin, but we soon picked up Nige on the way to Arlesey. On arrival in Harlington we found Mick and Peter (Crowe) already there, and Geoff P with Peter S arrived from Luton at the same time, so quite a good turn-out in the end. We were then further supplemented by Paul, who seems to have joined the steering group! Temporarily I’m sure.
The cafe is a new venue for us, and very good it turned out to be, with a good selection of pastry-based savouries and cakes. After an enjoyable hour at lunch we set off for the return, this time with the wind behind, which was much appreciated. I left the others at Shillington to make their own way back. Adrian Winterbone.
