Another mild morning for a ride today. We started from the fountain with Thirteen (yes 13). Therefore we split into 2 groups – Adrian (leading), Andrew Street + young friend George, Kris, John D, Geoff and Myself in Group A (doing a slightly longer route and Group B – Geoff Perry (leading), Stuart Collins, Angie, Roy, Paul and Martin (with his new bike).
We headed for the Spokes café in codicote.Group A went via Great Wymondley (where Nigel joined us), Preston and round the back of old Knebworth, Group B went the more direct route with Angie and Roy returning back early.
At spokes both groups arrived at about the same time.
Another day with little wind but again for most of the route the ground was wet and, in some places slippy, with water and mud from the fields
– so a pleasant ride out to Spokes.
We arrived well on time for the Lunch and was met by the other section members :Mick and Peter – 14 in total for lunch. Food at the Spokes café (toasties) was nice and the service was also good but a little slow !!.
Geoff Perry, Peter, Mick and Adrian returned back together and Nigel, Andrew Street and George returned back to Hitchin together – leaving the rest of us to return home via Stevenage, Graveley and Great Wymondley (with Stuart Collins pushing us all the way !!.
