Another windy day, but there were still eleven at the fountain for the start, a good turn-out.

Geoff led the ‘normal’ group, with Martin, John H, Stuart and Richard, and I led Steve C, Alan, Mia, Jack and Nige on a slightly longer route. The wind was mostly helpful on the way out, being largely southerly, and the two groups arrived at lunch with a mere handful of minutes between.

A good venue this; the staff coped with the numbers well and the food was good, but the acoustics are diabolical! Still, you can’t have everything.
The return run was rather different to the morning, with the wind now full in our faces for much of the way, making for hard work at times. My group made it back to Ashwell where we split up to go our separate ways, with most heading for Newnham I think.
Geoff’s group covered 31 miles at 11.5 mph, and mine about 35 miles at around 13 mph.
