Essex A

  • We ride on: Thursdays

Welcome to the Essex ‘A’ Section home page. We’re a friendly and supportive group and have plenty of fun together. Our Thursday rides are based in central Essex and cover the lanes of most of Essex and parts of Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Kent and even London. As well as the regular rides we have a summer fun ride and a Christmas lunch.

Thinking of joining us?

Here’s some stuff you might like to know………We meet at a different café each week and then we split into two different groups, both riding to the same pub for lunch. The ‘Tourists’ ride about 25 miles, sometimes more in summer, and typically average around 12.5 mph. The ‘A Plus’ group typically average 15 mph and cover about 30 miles or more to lunch. In the afternoon we do around 15 miles to afternoon tea at a different café chosen by the leader on the day. Most members ride from home to the start and back home again from tea.

Each group has a leader, so you won’t have to worry about the route. Don’t bother about getting left behind, we will always wait and if you have a bike problem there’s always somebody to give you a hand. You could make the day easier by going home directly from lunch or by driving to the start and riding back to your car later, there’s lots of options. For a better feel for what we do please look at our newsletter section and read the ride reports.

So, if you’d like to try riding with us you’ll be welcome, contact the secretary, or just turn up at one of the starts and make yourself known.
