In spite of the threatened thunderstorms there were nine at the fountain today, and we set off in two groups, with Geoff P leading Steve, John H, Martin and Stuart on the shorter route via Ireland, and myself leading Mia, John D, Geoff H, and picking up Alan en route in Arlesey, taking a longer trip via Old Warden.

My group arrived shortly after Geoff’s, with Paul W from the Bedford section already ensconced in the marquee with his baguette!

After a short hiatus while orders were taken at the bar, we all settled down for lunch, the food always being good here; and the beer too.
On leaving we played a game of ‘Dodge the rain’ and I think we all won!
Geoff’s group covered the 30 miles at just under 12 mph, with my group going just a little further at a tad under 13 mph.
